NYS Crime Fighting Initiative Includes Adding Nearly 64,000 Parole Officers

GATES, N.Y. — Details of a plan to increase the number of parole officers in New York state are expected Friday afternoon.

Representatives of several police agencies and local lawmakers are holding a news conference to detail several crime fighting initiatives. One of those recommends adding 63,461 parole officers to assist the department of corrections with the monitoring of parolees. Organizers said this program will come at no additional cost to taxpayers.
