WESTERN NEW YORK — 7-Eleven, home of the Big Gulp and Slurpee, is giving away a franchise. The online contest to win a store is exclusively for U.S. military veterans with some retail experience.

The ‘Operation Take Command’ prize is valued at $190,000. This multi-phased competition starts with an online application through 7-Eleven.

There are four rounds of judging in all. The contest is open to U.S. military veterans honorably discharged or discharged early for a service-related disability and have at least three years retail or restaurant experience.

So far, 22 veterans from Western New York have entered and qualify for the national contest.

The top 25 entries will be invited to submit a video on why they deserve a 7-Eleven franchise. Those will be narrowed down again to a field of seven, and those videos will be posted to Facebook so the public can vote.

The top three with the most votes will then go to Texas and meet with top executives at 7-Eleven who will choose the winner. That winner will be announced in June.

Time is limited, however, and the deadline to enter the contest is Friday, February 26. Click here to visit 7-Eleven online for more details.
