ROCHESTER, N.Y. —  A driver was injured Tuesday morning in a head-on collision with a Rochester city recycling truck, according to police.

The crash happened on Lexington Avenue near Mount Read Boulevard around 11 a.m. Firefighter were able to free the man.

Police said he was taken to the hospital with injuries to his upper and lower body. They described the injuries as non-life threatening.

Police say a search of the car turned up a handgun. The driver of the truck was not injured. Police say they’re investigating and will release more information when it becomes available.
