Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced her appointment of Dr. Nadia Granger as the new Monroe County Medical Examiner Tuesday.

Caroline Dignan served as the Medical Examiner for the past decade. Granger has worked as the county’s Associate Medical Examiner since 2011, after completing her education at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and her residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

“With ten years of experience in medical investigations, pathology, and laboratory medicine, Dr. Nadia Granger is incredibly qualified and the right choice to serve Monroe County as Medical Examiner,” said Dinolfo in a news release.

The Office of the Medical Examiner serves to investigate all reported deaths which are not attended by a physician, aid the administration of criminal and civil justice and provide accurate data for public health and education. Office programs include autopsy services, the toxicology laboratory and community education.
