LETCHWORTH STATE PARK, N.Y. — The body of Dylan Giangregorio, a nine-year-old from Brockport who state police said was among a group of people who went over the lower falls this weekend at Letchworth State Park, was recovered Tuesday, according to New York State Police.

Search crews recovered the body of his brother Preston, 6, Sunday afternoon.

The five others who went over the falls, two men and three girls, made it out Saturday with help from first responders. They were taken to Strong Memorial hospital in Rochester for treatment. It is unknown who the men with the children were.

Dylan and Preston attended the Brockport Central School District where Preston was in Kindergarten and Dylan was a 3rd grader.

The school released a statement saying:

“On behalf of the Brockport Central School District, we send our deepest condolences to the Giangregorio family and each individual impacted by this tragedy. Any loss of life is a loss to our entire community.

Upon learning about the incident, the district’s Trauma, Illness and Grief (TIG) team was immediately mobilized and mental health staff will be available throughout the week to provide assistance to students, staff and families in need of support.”
