A high-profile case will be back in a Monroe County courtroom Thursday. The Rochester man who killed another man at Gates Pub is scheduled to be sentenced.

This was a case that held the interest of many public leaders as well as residents who live in the town of Gates. After only a few hours of deliberating, jurors found David Alligood, 32, guilty in the shooting death of Ricky Jones.

Gunfire erupted inside the Gates Pub in April 2015 and it was all caught on a surveillance video as well as patrons who captured video on their cellphones. It showed Alligood shooting at Jones in the crowd. He was struck several times. Six others were wounded in the shooting. At the time of the incident, Alligood was on parole and that drew criticism of parole supervision from both the Gates town supervisor and the police chief, both were in the courtroom when the verdict was read last month.

Both will mostly likely be in court again for Alligood’s sentencing Thursday. Alligood faces a maximum penalty of 25 years to life in state prison.
