ROME — Italian authorities have uncovered the body of a missing Wisconsin student in Rome’s Tiber River.

Beau Solomon, age 19, from Spring Green, Wisconsin, was a first-year personal finance major at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Solomon was in Rome as part of a summer foreign exchange program at John Cabot University.

According to a statement by John Cabot University, his roommate reportedly lost contact with Beau around 1 a.m. on Thursday night while together at a pub in Rome and was worried when he did not see him at orientation Friday morning. Solomon’s family said his credit cards have been used since he disappeared.

Around midday Monday, police reported the discovery of the body of a young male in the Tiber River in Rome but stressed no identification of the corpse had been made.

Italian news agency ANSA, without citing sources, said two people claimed to have seen a man throw a person into the river the night Solomon disappeared.
