PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Pittsford Central School District has confirmed that it has fired a school bus monitor who was allegedly punched by a teenaged student.

The district confirmed Friday that bus monitor Shannon Casey was released from employment with the district.

They would not give the reason, saying it was a personnel matter. They say Casey was given a lengthy letter explaining the termination.

In late October, Casey she filed a police report with Greece police saying she had been attacked by the student.

She told us the 15-year-old girl had punched her in the face. She said the confrontation stemmed an argument with the girl about being on time for the bus.

Casey suffered bruising and other problems. Greece police say the teen was issued an appearance ticket for misdemeanor third degree assault.

They say her case is being handled in family court due to the student’s youthful status. The teen was a Pittsford student, but lived in Greece at the time.
