ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The funeral is Tuesday at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish’s Corpus Christi Church for an Irondequoit teenager who died after he was hit by a car on his way to school.

This story has touched the hearts of so many people in the community, who from the beginning have reached out in so many ways to help show their support for the family of a young boy, 14-year-old Michael Lynch, who was hit by a car while crossing Cooper Road last month.

He was freshman at Irondequoit High School. He underwent surgery at Strong Memorial hospital where he passed away last week. Two GoFundMe campaigns were set up to help the family with medical costs. In the boy’s hometown of Irondequoit, hundreds gathered last week for a candlelight vigil at I-Square. Green ribbons were placed throughout the town and outside the high school where Michael attended as a show of support.

Following the wishes of the family and parish leadership, cameras will remain outside the church.

Reporters are welcome to sit inside during the Mass as family and friends share rememberances of Michael.
