WEST SENECA, N.Y. — A Rochester man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at an AAU girls basketball game at the Niagara Frontier Sports Complex in West Seneca.

West Seneca Police say a 54-year-old man was shot multiple times during a fight with a distant relative in the entrance of the complex Saturday night. The two were transported to Erie County Medical Center, where the shooting victim was pronounced dead. They say both men are from the Rochester area.

Police have charged 39-year-old Andre Lewis with one count of second-degree murder. They say he was also injured in the fight but was not shot. Lewis is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday morning in West Seneca Town Court.

We were told the shooting happened at the end of the game as coaches talked to the team.

“It was described as chaotic, there were a lot of teenagers so it was certainly unusual for this area and type of event,” said Patrick Shea, West Seneca Police Department detective captain.
