RPD makes arrest in last week’s fatal hit-and-run

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police have made an arrest in connection to last week’s fatal hit-and-run near the University of Rochester campus.

Jon Jamberdino, 27, is charged with the leaving the scene of an accident-injury resulting in death.

Police say Jamberdino struck 38-year-old Hill Jacket Thursday morning while she was out running. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where she later died.

Jamberdino is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Monday. RPD officials say Jamberdino turned himself in.

Funeral arrangements have been finalized for Jacket, who was an English teacher at Wheatland-Chili High School.

A celebration of her life is scheduled for Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the education building of the Genesee Country Village and Museum, located on Flint Hill Road in Wheatland.

In lieu of flowers, people are asked to send donations to the Wheatland-Chili Drama Club and the Verona Street Animal Hospital.
