Snowflakes for Some This Week

Snowflakes for Some This Week

By Michael Gouldrick

A cold front will swing through this afternoon with scattered showers and winds gusting over 30mph.  After reaching the low to mid 60s, temperatures will fall through the 50s into the evening.  Any showers will end early tonight with clearing skies.  Low temperatures will range from the 30s south to about 40 in the city.

Tomorrow will be much cooler with plenty of sun and highs only in the low to mid 50s.  During the early morning hours a few lake effect rain showers will be near Sodus Bay to Fair Haven.

During the afternoon hours a band of lake effect clouds of of Lake Erie will drift over the city.  A small chance for a brief shower around 3 or 4pm as those clouds pass by.

A cold front will arrive on Wednesday with scattered showers.  Most will be during the afternoon.  Highs only in the mid to upper 40s.

Late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, the seasons first snow showers are expected for communites south of the Thruway.   I don’t think we will see them in Monroe County as Lake Ontario water temperatures are in the 55 to 60 range.  That is too warm to allow for any snowflakes within several miles of the lakeshore.  Thursday afternoon will be partly sunny and chilly with highs only in the mid 40s.

Friday will be the pick day of the week with sun and highs back up near 60.

Another shot of cold weather will arrive for the weekend.  Maybe even some more snowflakes well inland.
