One of the men acquitted of murder following the triple homicide at the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester is dead.

Jalen Everett, 24, of Rochester was shot and killed Saturday. It happened shortly before 8 p.m. in the area of Magee and Dewey Avenues.

Police say officers were in the area responding to an unrelated incident when they the heard gunfire. Everett was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Everett stood trial for the murders of Raekwon Manigault, Jonah Barley and Johnny “JR” Johnson who were all shot as they left a basketball game at the Boys and Girls Club in August 2015. 

Four other people were shot but recovered from their injuries.

Everett was charged with second degree murder but the verdict was eventually tossed, he was tried again and found not guilty.

Johnny Blackshell was convicted of the Boys and Girls Club shooting and Michael Mathis was acquitted.

Police say there were witnesses to the shooting.
