Rain Washes Out Lilac Fest, Concerts Moved to Anthology

By Spectrum News Staff

Danielle Ponder and the Tomorrow People, as well as the BB King Blues Band, will play at Anthology on East Avenue.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will be free, but space is limited.

If you bought VIP or Party Deck tickets you’re able to use them for any shows through the rest of the festival.

Festival organizers made the decision to close the festival after a lot of thought and conversation with vendors.

One of those vendors, Alex Tahou, owner of Nick Tahou’s, brought his popular restaurant and its garbage plates is one of the favorites at the festival. He said he’d rather have the sunshine, but he weighed in on the decision to close the festival Monday and he thinks it’s the right call.

“They called and they asked what our thoughts were and of course we gave them our blessing because it doesn’t make much sense to have everybody in here,” Tahou said. “One of the biggest reasons is the parking lots. You can’t get in, there’s mud everywhere, if you bring a bunch of cars in everybody’s gonna get stuck. There’s no parking for people to come visit which means they have to rely on a shuttle and that cuts down the number of visitors to the park. And also the coast of staying open when they’re aren’t a lot of people.”
